UB’s Campus Security team is a vital part of the fabric of our community. Security officers not only ensure our safety — they interact with our students daily, becoming friendly, familiar faces around campus our students trust.

Led by our experienced Executive Director of Campus Security, April Vournelis, our team is composed of highly trained professionals committed to maintaining a safe and secure campus. We operate 24/7 with a proactive approach that includes regular patrols, quick incident response, and ongoing partnerships with the Bridgeport Police Department

Ensuring your safety on campus

The Campus Security team is staffed through a collaboration with Securitas Security Services Inc. USA. UB’s patrol unit includes:

• A uniformed supervisor on patrol in a high visibility vehicle 24/7/365
• Uniformed patrol officers on foot and bicycle patrol 24/7/365

Campus security maintains a presence on campus, responds to requests for service and reports, supplies on-demand security for special events, and more. Shift supervisors are trained in first aid, CPR, AED, and Narcan administration. Shift supervisors serve as the designated first responders for the UB community 24/7/365.

Campus Security maintains a reporting system that includes statistics on crime. Campus Security also acts as a clearinghouse for informational crime in the neighborhood supplied by local police.
