Isabel Brodersen PA-C is the Director of Clinical Medicine of the Physician Assistant Institute at the University of Bridgeport. She has over 29 years of clinical experience in Pediatrics and Neonatology and has been an educator and preceptor for Physician Assistant students throughout the years.

Isabel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry Pre-med from Texas Woman’s University in 1978. She spent the next four years as a Medical Research Assistant in the Department of Pulmonary Diseases at the Audi Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, TX and in the Department of Cardiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, Colorado. In 1981, Isabel entered the Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant Program at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where she earned her Master Degree in Child Health and became certified as a Child Health Associate/Physician Assistant in 1985.

In 1986, Isabel entered the Physician Assistant Post-graduate Residency in Neonatology at the University of Southern California/LA County Medical Center and was awarded a certificate as a Neonatal Physician Assistant in 1987. She remained on clinical staff at Women’s Hospital in Los Angeles, and later became the Assistant Director of the Post-graduate Residency in Neonatology from 1988 to 1989.

In 1990, Isabel relocated to her home state of Connecticut and began her career as a Pediatric/Neonatal Physician Assistant, working in in-patient and out-patient settings for over 20 years as well as teaching and precepting PA students during their clinical rotations. She currently remains on staff at Yale New Haven Hospital, and MedCare Express Urgent Care Center.

Isabel has held Academic Appointments as Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the University of Southern California, Quinnipiac University, Tufts Medical School and the University of Bridgeport Physician Assistant Programs. Isabel’s passion is teaching. She has made a commitment to the role of the Physician Assistant as it pertains to the future of health care and is proud to be a part of the University of Bridgeport PA Institute.
