groundswell_photo1Groundswell is the literary journal of the University of Bridgeport. It is published annually, featuring the fiction, nonfiction, poetry and visual art of UB students from all majors.

Groundswell is edited and published through a joint collaboration between the Creative Writing Department and a student editor majoring in Creative Writing or English. Under the guidance of faculty advisor Prof. Eric D. Lehman, the student editor solicits submissions, copyedits, corresponds with contributors, secures funding, and works with UB’s graphic design majors. The resulting literary journal is published in hard copy and e-book form each spring.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are solicited every fall semester in October and November. All University of Bridgeport undergraduate students are encouraged to submit their writing and artwork to the student editor or to Prof. Lehman at 202 Bryant Hall. Look for posters around campus in October and November for the email address of the student editor and submission requirements. Those wishing to submit outside that period may send up to five pieces of their work directly to Visual arts must be high-resolution and titled.

The reading period for submissions is during winter break each year; students will be notified of acceptance early in the spring semester.
