No matter what your family income, the University of Bridgeport features both academic and need-based scholarships tailored to meet your academic priorities and financial needs. Whether you are from a high, middle or low-income family the University of Bridgeport will be surprisingly affordable.

Merit-Based Academic Scholarships for Undergraduate and Transfer Students

Academic Scholarships, based on incoming GPA and test scores (SAT or ACT). The University of Bridgeport also offers Portfolio Scholarships for Design and Fashion Merchandising majors, the opportunity to audition for a Music Scholarship for Music majors, and Athletic Scholarships to those athletes that qualify.  Transfer students are also eligible to receive special transfer scholarships.

Priority is given to students who apply early and 96% of UB students are awarded financial aid. There is no need to submit additional materials or to apply separately for these scholarships as they are automatically awarded based on previous academic performance.

Freshmen Scholarships

Merit-based academic scholarships for freshmen undergraduate students:

  • Trustee Scholarship: $22,000
  • Presidential Scholarship: $20,000
  • Honor Scholarship: $17,000
  • Challenge Grant: $12,000

Transfer Scholarships

Merit-based academic scholarships for transfer students:

  • Transfer Trustee Scholarship: $17,000
  • Transfer Presidential Scholarship: $15,000
  • Transfer Honor Scholarship: $12,000
  • Transfer Challenge Grant: $8,000

Increase Your Scholarship Eligibility by Completing the FAFSA

Students are not required to complete a FAFSA to receive UB’s merit-based academic scholarships; however, students are eligible for additional scholarship and/or grants if they complete the FAFSA. All students interested in applying for financial aid are required to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the University of Bridgeport’s Federal School Code is 001416.
