What are the Counseling Services provided at UB?
Services provided by Counseling Services include brief individual counseling, group work, psychiatric services, outreach programs, crisis intervention, mental health screenings, and referral services. We also offer consultations to faculty, staff, and students that need assistance with students in distress.
If you are dealing with any of these issues, or any others, you are not alone. It takes courage to make the first step toward accepting help. Contact us today if you would like to make an appointment.
Counseling Services offers short term counseling and consultation, free of charge, to all undergraduate and graduate students. Referrals to treatment providers in the community are made as needed. We are committed to the well-being of our students and welcome the opportunity to assist you in any way we can.
Education and Outreach
Counseling Services provides programs, workshops, outreach, and screenings throughout the academic year that emphasize prevention, wellness, and student self-help. We work collaboratively with other staff and programs within the campus community as well as with other departments to enhance the general campus climate. Various topics addressed this academic year through our education and outreach initiatives include suicide prevention, smoking cessation, decision making around drugs and alcohol, healthy relationships, stress management/self-care and emotional wellness.
